Obituary

Deborah A. “Debbie” Windle, age 65 of Dayton, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 10, 2024. She was born on November 20,1958 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter to the late James and Irene (Slorp) Johnson.

Debbie graduated from Belmont High School in 1977 and went on to devote many years of her life to working at WPAFB. She was known for her hard work and her exceptional work ethic. Her family, especially her grandchildren, brought her tremendous pride and joy. She made lasting memories with each of them that will be cherished forever. She will be remembered for her out-of-this- world fried chicken, the infamous “fruit cup surprise”, incredible talent for landscaping, and her unfiltered personality. She was known by many for showing up in time of need, always sensing when those around her needed help.

She is survived by her two loving daughters, Amanda (Mark) Fryman and Alexandra (Brian) Green; She was Nana to Mia, Nolan, Havilyn, and Madelyn, her life partner, Bob Voekl, her dogs, Emmy and Jo, her brother Jerry Johnson (Kathy), her sister Joyce Thompson and two nephews Scott and Chris Geisler. Deborah is preceded in death by her parents, James and Irene (Slorp) Johnson.

A special thank you to Kimberly Sharp, her dear lifelong friend, for your endless love and support. If heaven has a cul-de-sac, we know she will have a spot waiting for you.

Our family would like to express its deepest gratitude to Brenda Barrett, PD RN, from DaVita Pike Place. Thank you for the unwavering dedication you provided our mother. You were a true source of comfort to her. We will be forever grateful.

Finally, to her sweet neighbor friend Willow, you were a beacon of light to Ms. Debbie. Thank you for keeping a smile on her face. You brought her tremendous joy!

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Tobias Funeral Home, 5471 Far Hills Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45429. Memorial service will follow immediately beginning at 7:00 PM. Debbie will be laid to rest on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 11:00 AM at David’s Cemetery- 4600 Mad River Road, Dayton, Ohio 45429.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association or the American Kidney Foundation. Please consider doing an act of kindness for someone today in her memory.
