Steven Joel Takiff

Steven Joel Takiff, age 83 of Centerville, passed away Monday, November 25, 2024. He was born October 7, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois the son of the late Sam and Nettie Takiff. He graduated from New Trier High School, earned his Bachelors and master degrees from the University of Michigan, and earned his PHD in mathematics from the University of Illinois. He went on to teach mathematics at Michigan State University. Steven had a long career in computer programming and operated his own business, Fourcolor Software. He was passionate about computers and technology and loved what he did. Family was the center of Steven's life and he cherished time spent dining out with his family or going to his grandkids' sporting events. He loved watching movies and was an avid reader who liked taking trips to the book store. Steven enjoyed staying active, jogging and taking hikes in nature. He touched a lot of lives and will be deeply missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and Brother, Alan Takiff.

Steven is survived by his wife of 61 years, Vita Takiff; Daughters, Michelle (John) Fairand, Sheri (Greg) Engelhart, and Niki (George) Sellman; Grandchildren, Josh (Andrea) Engelhart, Taylor (Alex) Jakovina, Elyse Fairand, Nate Fairand, Will Fairand, Grace Fairand, Sam Sellman, and Ava Sellman; Great-grandchildren, Natalia Engelhart, and Eric Engelhart; Sisters, Adrienne (Fred) Zimmerman, and Lois (Bob) Glick; and by numerous other family and friends.

A private ceremony will be held by his family. Interment at David's Cemetery.
