Obituary

SMITH, Terry Richard was born on March 25, 1942 in Toledo, OH and passed away on April 26, 2018 at Bethany Lutheran Village. The majority of his life was spent in Kettering, OH.

Terry was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Raedelle & Evelyn Smith; biological mother, Esther Hefty; brother, Ted Hefty, and sister, Cheryl Buckingham.

He is survived by significant other, Theresa Groff of Kettering; brother-in-law, Gary Buckingham; nephew Marty Buckingham both of Cincinnati, and sister, Carrol Lee Rice of Toledo.

Terry was a graduate of Fairmont High School, Class of 1959 and Wright State University. Terry worked a variety of jobs over the years, but especially enjoyed his time with NCR where he worked with many of the international staff. Terry’s favorite past time was competitive steel target shooting and attending the Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot twice yearly in Shephardsville, KY. He was a member of the Miamisburg Sportsman Club, the NRA, the Alpha Lodge F&AM 729 in Kettering, OH.

Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 pm Monday, April 30, 2018 at Newcomer (South Chapel) 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, OH 45439, with a Masonic service at 7:00 pm followed by a funeral service. Interment will be at David’s Cemetery at a later date.
