HINDERS, Doris Rose, age 97, of Kettering, OH passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025. Doris was born on May 14, 1927, in South Bend, IN, to the late Gentiel and Erma DeWyze. She attended St. Joseph Academy and following her graduation continued working in the family business, DeWyze Market. Doris married Urban A. Hinders on May 30, 1949, and moved to Dayton, OH where Urban was working at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (then Wilbur Wright Field). Doris was a founding member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Parish in Kettering. She was generous in giving her time to help charities, schools, and her parish. Doris was an avid seamstress using her talents to provide clothing for her family. She spent numerous hours tending to her beloved garden and was especially fond of her roses. Doris also loved having pets in the house including dogs, cats, and birds. Her compassionate and loyal character will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 65 years, Urban; sisters, Marjorie Kuboske; and Marie DeBaets; son-in-law, Richard Green; and great-granddaughter, Laila Marie.

She is survived by her children, Judi (Rich, deceased) Green, Rod (Laura) Hinders, Brian (Diane) Hinders, Anita (Bob Pivetta) Hinders, and Kevin (Mary) Hinders; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great granddaughter.

A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00am on Friday, January 24, 2025, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4500 Ackerman Blvd., Kettering, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be held following at 11:00am.
