Obituary

Carolyn Lee Nagy (née Andrews) was called to be with her Lord on September 12, 2024, at Kettering Health in Kettering, OH. She was born on October 27, 1941, in Dayton, OH to Paul E. Andrews and Betty J. Swango Andrews. Carolyn is survived by her loving husband Frank, two sons, Brian Kohen (Kelli) of Dayton and Kevin Kohen (Melissa) of Rhinelander, WI, two sisters, Barbara Stonebraker (David) of Cincinnati and Joyce Siens (Eugene) of Kettering, as well as a brother David of McKinley, TX. Also surviving are her grandchildren Keely Kohen Bell (Jackson) and Christian Kohen, 4 stepchildren, 19 step-grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren. Carolyn was predeceased by her sister Nancy Andrews Shewmaker Her presence and love for her family enriched the lives of all those with all who surrounded her. She will be remembered for her kindness, her generosity, and a warm, caring heart. She was always a supportive and loving mother, diligently working to nurture and encourage her two young sons who were her greatest sources of pride.

Carolyn lived her life as a devout Christian, striving to honor her Lord by doing all she could to work in the service of others. Professionally, she was trained as a medical assistant at Bay Path University in Massachusetts and later graduated from Kettering College of Medical Arts as a certified, registered respiratory therapist. She preferred working in home care, taking her skills, care and personal concerns directly to her patients in need of medical attention.

Growing up on a farm in Centerville Carolyn always proudly celebrated her German and Scottish (Clan Ross) heritages. Historically, her family has ties to the famous Hohenschwangau Castle in Germany. In her early years, she was very active in women’s athletics (notably field hockey and basketball) at Centerville High School, and she has remained active in class reunion activities for CHS. While she was growing up, Carolyn’s family raised American Saddlebred horses, and she became an accomplished competitive equestrienne. Her affection for animals extended to her many canine buddies, the last of which was her favorite, Belle.

She was a long-time active member of Southminster Presbyterian Church in Centerville and now Centerville Community Church. Carolyn served her churches in various capacities over many years, notably as a deacon, doing extensive committee work and as a member of the choirs. She loved music and loved to sing. Her volunteer activity on many fronts was generous and praiseworthy. Her mantra was always, “What can I do to help you?”, no matter what the need. That is truly who she was. Her memory will forever be carried in the minds and hearts of those who cherished and loved her. Rest in eternal peace, my beloved.
