RASOR, Dan, age 83, of Oakwood, OH, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024. Dan was born on July 5, 1941, to the late Louis and Evelyn Rasor, in Troy, OH. He graduated from Troy High School, where he met his life-long partner and future wife, Alice Schultz. Dan went on to receive his B.S. in Education at Ohio Northern University, and a Master’s of Science Teaching at Antioch College.

Dan began his long career in education and coaching at Wayne High School. In 1967 he accepted a position with Oakwood City Schools, where he established the 8th grade science program. Affectionately known as “Doc,” Dan became Oakwood’s first certified athletic trainer, providing care to thousands of young athletes. He spent countless hours serving the community and essentially “living” at Oakwood High School’s athletic fields and courts. During his 43 years as Oakwood’s Head Athletic Trainer, Dan was the recipient of the High School Trainer of the Year by the Ohio Athletic Trainers’ Association and inducted into their hall of fame. He was recognized as the National Athletic Trainers’ Association’s Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer and received the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers’ Association’s distinguished service award. Dan was also inducted into Oakwood’s Athletic Hall of Fame. His caring, hard-working, and dedicated character will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Nothing meant more to Dan than his family. He enjoyed traveling together to national parks, beaches, zoos, and even athletic training conferences. Anywhere he was together with family was his favorite destination.
