Thomas M. "Tim" Gary
August 19, 1931 - February 13, 2025
U.S. Veteran
Thomas M. “Tim” Gary, 93, of Cedarville, formerly of Bellbrook, OH, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 13, 2025. Tim was born on August 19, 1931, in New Madison, Ohio. As a child, a neighbor began taking him and his sister to church regularly, which is where he came to know the Lord. He met his wife, Norma, through a shared carpool when they both worked at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Together they raised two children and shared 67 years together in marriage. For much of his career, Tim managed a Sherwin-Williams paint store. His life was further enriched through his involvement at Fairhaven Church in Centerville, where he and Norma became members and formed lifelong friendships. Tim dedicated much of his time to serving the church in multiple capacities, most notably working as a janitor. Upon his retirement, he continued to give back to his community by volunteering at Miami Valley Hospital. Tim was a loving grandfather, affectionately known as "Popaw" by his seven granddaughters. He created lasting childhood memories that they cherish. His love for them was evident, and he took pride in being part of their lives. In the later years of his life, Tim remained an active and beloved part of his family, attending family gatherings, events, and church at Xenia Nazarene with his granddaughters and their families. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edith Gary; wife, Norma Gary; son, Douglas Gary; and daughter, Jill Hughes. He is survived by his sister, Mary Flood; son-in-law, Dino Hughes; granddaughters, Jennifer (Mike) Del-Rio, Cherie (Jack) Pranaitis, Stacey (Brian) Updyke, Katie (Tim) Kracus, Abby (Brandon) Pippin, Mattie (Tom) Stock, and Maggie (Camden) Bonardi; as well as 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at David’s Cemetery (Dayton, OH) on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 10:00AM
