James Angelo Cortina, 89, of Centerville, Ohio passed away on January 25, 2024. Jim was born January 8, 1935, near Rochester, New York to the late James J. and Catherine Cortina.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 41 years, Fay, and his son, Michael.

Jim is survived by his children Mary Beth Clark (Brian), Mark (Ana), and Karin (Jim Finkle); grandchildren Ian Clark (Maggie), Erin Cortina, Evan Cortina, Brynn Clark, and Connor Starost; great-grandchild, Mia Clark, and other loving family members and friends.

In his earlier years, Jim attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Rochester, New York where he played football and managed the basketball team, developed many longstanding friendships, and began a lifelong devotion to his Catholic faith. Jim went on to attend Niagara University. In 1958, he married Fay Hartle, and started his 34-year career at Delco Products in Rochester. In 1966, he moved his young family to Dayton, Ohio where he transferred with General Motors.

Jim was a dedicated family man, sharing his love of fishing, Bengal Football, and Notre Dame with many family members. He loved gardening and spent many hours tending to his many plants and flowers. He was a long-time parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Church and was strong in his faith, also serving at many events as an Alter High School Booster member. He will also be remembered for his undying passion for Notre Dame Football, travelling to games over a 50-year span. He enjoyed many meetings and events with the Dayton Notre Dame Subway Alumni Club.

A visitation for Jim will be held Friday, February 2nd, 2024, from 10:15 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4500 Ackerman Blvd, Kettering, Ohio 45429, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM.

Guests are welcome to join the family for food and refreshments at the church immediately following Mass.

Jim will be laid to rest at David’s Cemetery at a later date.
