COOK, Robert Michael, M.D., age 68, of Washington Twp., passed away Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Hospice of Dayton after battling cancer and other medical issues. Born September 12, 1955 to Dr. Roger and Mrs. Beverly Cook in Flint, MI.

Beloved brother to Deborah (Greg) Dowling, John Cook, Christine Cook, Andrew Cook, and Matthew Cook (deceased). Uncle to Adam Cook, Anthony (Jenn) Cook, Lauren (Jordan) Huizenga, and great-uncle to Jackson and Avery Cook and Charlotte and Michael Huizenga.

Robert grew up in Ohio, graduating from Alter High School in 1973, the University of Dayton and WSU School of Medicine. He did his residency training in Radiology in Flint, Mi at MSU (including the hospital he was born in). He remained friends with multiple fellow residents for the rest of his life. Robert did additional training in Nuclear Medicine at Indiana University.

Robert practiced radiology mostly as a locum physician, except his time as partner in the Hammond Clinic.

Robert enjoyed sports, especially football and golf. He dabbled in football for two years as a walk-on at the University of Cincinnati until he got more serious about pursuing a career in medicine. He loved playing golf. He could hit the ball a mile (although not always sure where it would end up)!

He enjoyed movies and quoting lines from movies.

He liked to find humor in almost any situation.

He enjoyed his neighbors at his condo complex, attending many community events. Despite his heath issue, he strengthened his Catholic faith. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Family will greet friends Monday, July 22 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 23 at 10:30am, at St. Charles Borromeo, 4500 Ackerman Blvd., Kettering at (TIME). Robert will be laid to rest in David’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton or to the charity of your choice.
